With Chris resigning as president, we need to fill the vacancy. As per the rules, we’re opening up nominations to fill the position. In this case, I will be acting as the CRO (Chief Returning Officer) for the byelection. Any eligible member who wants to run for TOPL president should comment on this post announcing that they want to run. You may also post announcements/updates to the mailing list, Facebook group, or any other place you wish, but the official list of candidates will be determined from the comments to this blog post. Nominations are open immediately, and will close at 11 PM on Monday, February 9, 2015. If, at that time, we have multiple candidates for President, then voting will open on Friday February 13, and close on Friday February 27. The winning candidate will take over as league president until the end of 2015, which is when the next regular TOPL election is scheduled.

I would like to run for President of TOPL.
I’ve been a staple in the league for almost 12 years now, was score keeper for 8 of them and think I would be a good fit to take on the roll of President.
I want to see stability returned to the TOPL Leadership and the League. I think the league is in a really good place right now and while I have ideas on new scoring systems and incentives for the league I want to create a more open forum for discussion for everyone.
I look forward to working with everyone in the future, in the role of president or otherwise.
Thanks
Adam Becker
Dear Members,
As you are probably already aware, shortly after the resignation of Chris Frolic, I made public my intentions to run for the position of President of the TOPL pinball league.
I think that honesty and personnel integrity are two important characteristics I possess which would serve the league well in my role as President. However, after my announcement I had a discussion with our current management and advised them that if Adam ran, I would not. Mainly for the reason that I personally do not want any more character bashing occurring in TOPL. At times a number of us are all at fault for speaking out or saying something negative about the way the league is being operated. As an organizer of DRAPL, I know quite well that it’s not easy to manage a league. I understand the positive and negative effects of incorporating ideas without the consent of the league members.
Adam would give the league stability as he has been a long standing member of the league, a great competitor at home and abroad, a true ambassador of our local league. So in saying that, I would like to know what Adam is going to do as President of TOPL. The league members need to have a choice in leadership, a choice in steering this league forward in a direction that is agreeable to each and every member. I look forward to hearing from you Adam.
With his leaving us, I would like to thank Chris Frolic for introducing necessary change to TOPL. You took great strides in revamping our ToPL.ca website. It now has a modern feel with a great new logo. Though you are resigning these changes will continue on and keep us moving in the right direction.
Thanks
Eddie
Hey Eddie
I’m happy to respond to let people know some of my ideas.
First and foremost as you mentioned stability. I’ve been in the league for over a decade, and was score keeper for 8 of them. I will be what the league needs me to be, a stable presence in what has been an unstable last year.
The first things I want to spear head if I take over as President would be adding value to the casual members and increasing communication.
There is more than enough structure in place for those members who want to compete, along with rewards. I want to give causal players a reason to show up week after week and play. I’ve got ideas around new rewards for players along with giveaways that will give everyone a reason to come out every week besides just coming to hang out and play pinball.
I also plan to work with the leadership and membership. The title of President to me, is nothing more than a description of duties. IMO a President shouldn’t get any more say then our other League officials and I think it’s important that as a leadership group they work well together.
I also want to get us off of the yahoo groups and give us a place where we can have more open discussion in an easier format. This is my plan to make communication more open and easier.
The one thing I don’t want to change is the community that TOPL has grown to become. We have a great group of people, friendships which have been created and a comradery among members that is really the best part of the league.
Hopefully this adds a little insight into what I am hoping to accomplish.
Thanks
Adam Becker
Thanks Adam.
