Well, this is a first. I’ve been playing in TOPL for 11 years now, and scorekeeping for 5, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a season tied (as you can see on the PAPA site). In the simplest terms, with everything down to the wire, John won the season! After some consultation, we decided that for the purposes of the TOPL records, we’d let the tie stand, so there’ll be a special “JRF John Flitton/JAZ John Zaharatos” plaque on there for all eternity. If, in five years, someone asks why there’s a plaque with two names on it-this is the reason. It’ll be a little like lifetime high score standings-back when we had those-had two players with half a high score on them. John Z has graciously offered to let John F take the top spot for the WPPR submission, but in the end this can go down as the first recorded tied season in topl history (until proven otherwise). Congratulations to both Johns!
Besides the season championship, Ryan Matheson won the handicap award with a pretty sizeable lead, and Ryan also takes home the Most Improved trophy with an impressive 27% jump over past performance. Congrats Ryan!
Also, you’ll be receiving voting information for the TOPL elections in the next day or so from Jim, our election CRO (Chief Returning Officer). Thanks to Jim for taking this on, and thanks to David Newman, Chris Draper, Mike Luciani, Ryan Matheson, and Myles Cameron for stepping up to run for an SLO position. This league exists because of our hosts, and our members, but what brings those two things together is our leadership team. Everyone who takes on an SLO position is working for free, and doing so to make sure we can have fun playing competitive pinball every week.
Next week is our playoffs at the Player One showroom, so thanks in advance to Jerry for opening up for us. Remember, there’s still time to buy a new pin before Christmas. Have a great week everyone!
