scores for week 14

Thanks to Nick for hosting the last league night of the season!  The final season results are up here, and John came extremely close to tying Adam for the season points total.  Close doesn’t count though, so Adam takes the season champ trophy again.  This also gives us the first season with results for the handicap system, and it looks like the system is working.  Congrats to David Newman, who not only took the lead in that race, but in most improved as well!  That means he gets both trophies, and a replay into next season.

Playoffs are coming up on Sunday at Adam’s place, and doors open at 10:30.  We’re aiming for an 11:00 start for match play rounds.  As before, there’ll be an A and B division for playoffs-I’ll send out more details later in the week once we finalize eligibility.

Thanks to everyone who made it out this season, and see you on Sunday.  Remember that playoffs are an open event, so if anyone wants to drop in and get a full day of competitive pinball, they’re more than welcome to come out.  League nights for the start of next season have also been posted to the Yahoo and Facebook calendars.

Scores for week 13

Thanks to Andrew for hosting this week, and for giving most of the league their first chance to play The Hobbit!  There’s only one more week left in the regular season, and the scores are up here.  Most improved and the handicap race are both incredibly close.  We’ll see what next week brings.

Speaking of next week, we’re at Nick’s next Monday for the end of the regular season, and then out to Adam’s the following Sunday for playoffs.  Have a great week!

Scores for week 12

Thanks to Kim for hosting this week!  The season is starting to wrap up, and the scores still have Adam and John in fairly tight contention for the season points total.  Julian and Dave are still fighting it out for the handicap total, with Julian ahead by just 2 points.  Julian is also leading in the Most Improved race again.

Next week, we’re off for the long weekend, and then we’re back to Andrew’s place the week after that.  Have a great long weekend everyone!

Scores for week 11

Thanks to Jim for having us back to his place this week!  Scores are up on the PAPA site, and Dave and Julian are tied for the season lead right now.  Dave still has a slight edge on the most improved stat for the season, but there are still 3 regular season weeks left before playoffs.  Also wanted to welcome two new members this week, both named Rob D (who came independently of each other).  Welcome Rob and Rob, and hopefully we see you guys out again.

We’re out to Kim’s place next week-see everyone there!

Scores for week 10

Thanks to everyone for coming out to my place this week, and especially thanks to the family members who were entertaining my kids this week!  It meant that Emma was finally able to play her first TOPL week, and that everyone else could benefit from her being able to do things like make fresh brownies.  Scores are up here, and John and Adam are now tied for the season lead, with Mike Capocci coming up close behind.  Dave Newman has pulled just ahead of Julian for the Handicap lead, and has also taken the lead on most improved.  Still plenty of time for things to change though.

We’re at Jim’s place next Monday, so I’ll see everyone there.  Have a great week!

Scores for week 9

Thanks to Luch for hosting us again this week and keeping everyone well fed.  This week’s scores are up in the usual place, and it’s still Adam, John, and Les at the top of the points totals.  Julian is still leading the pack when the handicap is taken into account, and he’s also retaken the most improved spot.

Next week we’re out at my place in Mississauga-have a great week, and see everyone next Monday!

Scores for week 8

Thanks to Glen and his family for hosting this week!  Scores are up on the PAPA site, and we’ve got an Adam/John tie for the season lead, with Les coming up close behind.  Les is also still leading the Most Improved race, with Kim pulling ahead of Julian right behind him.

We’re at Luch’s next Monday after the long weekend.  Have a great Canada Day, and see everyone next Monday!

Scores for week 7

Thanks to Josh for hosting this week!  Scores are up on the PAPA site, and the overall standings are pretty close to what they were last week.  Les has pulled ahead of Julian in the most improved race, but Julian is still leading the season with the new handicap system.  We also had four new members join this week, so welcome to Karl, Tammy, Marc, and Jeff!

This week we also started testing a new rule where we allowed groups to switch games instead of waiting.  Since we had 8 groups of 4 this time, there were no games where we needed a median, so it wasn’t a big deal to switch players.  Going forward, we’re going to keep this in place, but with the following guidelines:

  • If a game is marked on the score sheets with an Asterisk * then that game MUST be played to get a median (since it means we have groups of three.
  • A game can be substituted if the game you’re supposed to play is busy with a league game, and will likely stay so for more than 5 minutes.
  • All four members of a group need to agree to switch games.

If in doubt, ask before you swap a game out.  At larger locations, we’re going to try to spread players out as much as possible, so swapping games won’t be as necessary, but at smaller locations, we’ll obviously have overlap, and it’s never obvious what is going to take the a long time on any given night.  If you’ve got any other suggestions on how else to implement this, let me know!

Next week we’re back to Glen’s place in Newmarket.  Glen hasn’t hosted in a while, but he’s got a great collection of Bally/Williams games.  Have a great week everyone!

scores for week 6

Thanks to Kim and Lori for hosting this week!  We had 2 new players this time out, so welcome Brianne and Roman!  Hopefully both of you get a chance to come out again.  Scores are up on the PAPA site, and more players are showing up on the most improved listing, but Julian is still way ahead at this point.

Next week we’re back out to Josh’s place-have a great week everyone!  Also, dates for the rest of the season have been worked out, so look for those on the Yahoo and Facebook calendars soon.

Scores for week 5

Thanks to Andrew (and Kirk) for hosting this week, and for keeping everyone fed!  Scores for this week are up on the PAPA site, and now that we’re 5 weeks in we can start tracking most improved.  As expected, Julian is in the lead with a commanding 24% over last season, just short of double Brian’s increase.  There’s still a long way to go before the end of the season though, so lots can change.

We’re at Kim’s place next week, and he asked me to remind everyone that Brock is closed north bound from the 401, so you’ll need to work around that.  Best bets are to go south on Brock to Baley ,  or go to Westney and go north to Kingston rd .  Hopefully it doesn’t cause too much trouble for everyone.  Have a great week!
